It is important to remove a carpet spot as soon as possible because once it sets into a stain it is harder to remove. Prompt action usually allows identification of the spill so that an appropriate remover can be used. Old stains are extremely difficult to remove and, in many cases, can only be lightened. With prompt action most stains can be treated using a general water-based spotter, such as Advance Pro Spotter.

However, if this is unsuccessful then the Advance Carpet Master Series 4 Step Stain Treatment Process can be followed to ensure that the stain is not made worse and that the stain is neutralised when finished.

THE IMPORTANCE OF RINSING: If any spotter is not rinsed out properly, re-staining can occur due to dirt sticking to residues left in the carpet.
Step 1: CITRA SOLV-IT, PRO SOLV
Solvents have an aggressive action that helps lift tar, chewing gum, some paints, inks and lipsticks. Being water soluble, they will work on wet carpets and will not spread the stain.
Always rinse after use.
Compounded solvent spotters like Citra Solv-It and Pro Solv are far more superior to straight turpentine or kerosene, which tend to leave behind a greasy residue and spread the stain.
Step 2: COFFEE SPOTOUT
A low pH acid spotter designed to assist in the removal of coffee, fruit juices, wine and tannin stains.
Ensure that the stain is rinsed and neutralised with SpotOut Protein after use.
Even if you know the stain is a protein, do not eliminate this step. Acidic spotters act to condition the stain and make it easier to be removed by the next step.
Step 3: SPOTOUT PROTEIN
Alkaline spotter for protein stains such as food, milk, blood and faeces. Ensure that the spotter is rinsed and neutralised with Coffee SpotOut, especially on wool carpets.
Step 4: BROWNING TREATMENT
Neutralising spotter designed as a final application to neutralise the site and balance the pH in the carpet fibres to prevent browning.
Always keep the spotter within confines of the stain. Leave spotter in for three to four minutes, then rinse out.
